Tiger is the symbol of dispelling evil spirits, protecting wealth and bringing safety and happiness in China. So the grandma always sew a cloth tiger by hand herself for her grandson's first birthday. And the babies always sit on the cloth tiger to grasp things on their first birthday to dispel evil spirits and hoping the future.
My grandma had sewed a cloth tiger for my future baby several years before she passed away. I love her so much. She is a great woman.
